Bulgarian Title LAUREATE of CYRIL and METHODIUS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE
Instituted: On 29th April 1979, with a decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
Awarded to: The title was awarded once every two years to prominent Bulgarian and foreign scientists, who were specialists in the field of ancient Bulgarian and Slavonic studies.
Form: The badge is round in shape, with a diameter of 28 mm. It is made of GOLD.
Obverse: the background is mirror-like.
The images of the two Slavonic teachers, Cyril and Methodius, were moldelled upon the sculpture of Vladimir Grinevsky. Cyril has a feather in his hand and unrolled scroll. On the scroll are written the two initial letters of the Slavonic alphabet. Methodius is holding a book.
Reverse: in the center can be noticed the initial letters of the alphabet and surrounded by: "LAUREATE OF INTERNATIONAL PRIZE CYRIL AND METODIUS", below which reads: "PEOPLEĀ'S REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA".
