Rich, fascinating and diverse is the spiritual and material culture of the Bulgarians in the different ethnographic areas. Folklore and folk traditions are one of the most significant aspects of Bulgaria’s contribution to European culture. Yet, many of them are little known at home and abroad. Even today, some unfamiliar aspects of the life of ethnographic communities come to light.
One colourful group is that of the Kapantsi, who live in the territory of several municipalities in Razgrad and Targovishte districts.
In her study, Svetlana Radeva describes the local traditions, the dress and customs of the Kapantsi from the village of Sadina, placing an accent on the unique Kapantsi embroidery.
