Rare WWI Original Bulgarian Royal Luger Pistol Holster P.08 « Bulgarian Militaria « Home
We are pleased to offer you an old royal model of the Bulgarian Luger pistol holster P.08. At the beginning of 20th c. all Bulgarian officers were equipped with Luger pistols. This armement was used in both world wars, at the time when Bulgaria was Germany's ally. Most of the holsters were of the typical Bulgarian royal army model for Luger pistol P08, admittedly copying the German original. The holster we are offering is of the pre -WWI model which remained the same until WW2. The light color leather and the fact that there is no lid on the cartridge pouch indicate that the holster model can be dated to the late WW2 period.
The major change in Bulgarian Luger holster design occurs in the late 1930s and stays basically the same, except for the quality of materiel and workmanship, throughout WWII. The changes involve the style of the flap and the method of securing the flap to the holster body.
The flap seems to be more traditional or standardized being shorter or half the length of the holster body and secured by the brass stud and slit method with a leather strap diagonally and sewn to the back side of the holster body. The holster is made of genuine thick leather pressed by means of special technology. A small strap fastens the lid into a brass clasp. There is a sideway placed cartridge pouch. Size: 14 cm/5,5 inches.
Full height of the holster 24 cm/9,5 inches; width at its upper part 16,5 cm/6,5 inches - with the side pouch. Messing parts are covered with nice patina.
VG authentic condition! Valuable find for each holsters collection!!!!!
