Named after the greatest composer from the Byzantine- Slavic late Middle Ages Bulgarian by origin, Yoan Kukuzel, the "Yoan Kukuzel - Angeloglassnniyat" Chamber ensemble was founded in 1967. Having set itself the objective of preserving the early models of Bulgarian ecclesiastic music (from the Middle Ages and the Bulgarian National Revival), the Ensemble keeps a living bond with the church- singing practice of today as well. The specifically authentic sounding, the beautiful multi- voiced singing, the stylistic features from the Balkan, Russian and West- European traditions succeed in recreating the Orthodox atmosphere of past times.
