Issued: 2004
Style: Folklore Music
Company: Gega New, GD292

Church chants are a strongly expressive and emotional source for Christian religious inspiration. Sacred music, in recent years in particular, has taken a more and more considerable place in the repertoire of Bulgarian choirs. Featuring works that cover a wide period of seven centuries (ranging between the 14th and 20th c.), the present CD is like an anthology of the various styles of Bulgarian church music.
The Vassil Arnaudov Sofia Chamber Choir is an outstanding representative of Bulgarian choral art. Founded in 1966, it has gained wide popularity and prestige both at home and abroad. The choir's main objective has always been to perform Bulgarian music and present the latest works by Bulgarian composers. The Vassil Arnaudov Sofia Chamber Choir has an impressive and intensive home and international concert career. It has repeatedly performed throughout Europe, Great Britain and Japan. A regular participant in competitions and festivals, it has twice been awarded the Grand Prix of "Let the People Sing" International Competition, and is a holder of 14 first and 6 special prizes at many famous European stages.
