This is is the GOLD emission of an extremely rare award. Only 12 people were honored with it!
The award you see is not only in perfect condition, but also referred to as one of the master pieces of Bulgarian communist phaleristics. This is an excellent work, with fine details on the obverse image. It is characterized by mirror-like finish of the flat surface as well as with opaque relief. Instituted: On 24th July 1972, with a decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
Awarded to: Famous poets for their poetry and contribution to peace, democracy and social progress. This title is given once every five years. The awarded people receive a gold medal and the "Laureate of International BotevÂ’ prize" title.
Form: The badge has a circle-like shape, with a diameter of 28 mm. It is made of yellow metal.
Obverse: in the center can be noticed Christo Botev's image. He is a Bulgarian national hero and poet; at the top right side is placed the year of his birth: 1848, and below is the year of his death: 1876.
Reverse: a lion, a crossed revolver and feather, surrounded by: "LAUREATE OF THE INTERNATIONAL BOTEVÂ’ PRIZE". The badge carrier is shaped in a laurel-wreath form and has a rectangular, three-color ribbon.
