Boris Christoff, or as the famous art expert prof. Dr. Atanas Bozhkov calls him a " Troubadour of the Russian song", is well known for his indulgence in Russian songs and Slavic culture in more general terms.
The present release ranges over Russian folk songs ( to the accompaniment of the Fiodor Piotorjinsky" Choir), as well as pieces of music by authors, representing the so- called " neo-Russian" School, namely composers from the "Five". Some of the author's songs are with piano accompaniment, while others are to the accompaniment of a choir. The specific alternation of chamber and large- scale music still more reveals not only a richness of different creative personalities, but also an enormous artistic emotionality of interpretation. Cooperation from musicians as Serge Zapolsky, Alexander Labinsky and Andre Clutens also raises the value of this interpretation of Russian music culture.
