Very RARE WWII Bulgarian Brannik Youth Nazi Organization Knife Dagger
We offer you a rare knife dagger of the Bulgarian Nationalistic Youth organization called "Brannik"( it means "Guardians"). It was part of the uniform of the most distinguished organization members. It is modeled on the dagger knifes employed by the German organisations popular in the 1930s - the form of our Bulgarian dagger is absolutely the same! There are two emissions of these knives. The first one made by Robert Klaas Solingen is smaller; the second one is bigger and heavier made in Bulgaria especially designed for Brannik leaders. This second model is rarer and more beautiful. Such is the dagger we are offering: blade is 14,5 cm/ 5,7" long, whereas the whole knife is 24,5 cm/9,6 inches long; the full length of the dagger is 25,5 cm/ 10".
The handle is made of black embossed bakelite. At front is seen the sign reminding of a shield, with the "B" letter in it - the symbol of the organization.
The blade is in original perfect condition. At one of the sides is engraved the motto of the organization: "Duty and Honor". On the other is the marking of the Bulgarian manufacturer: an emblem with a gazelle and "Faktor" lettering, both standing for the name of the manufacturing plant in the town of Gabrovo.
The scabbard is covered with a layer of black, glossy paint which is almost 100% preserved. The carrier is made of black, thick, genuine leather.
The dagger is in authentic condition and is fairly well preserved despite of the years that have passed. This interesting item has survived throughout the whole communist period, when for a thing like that people were sent to labor camps.
History notes: "Brannik" was a military Nazi Hitler youth organization in Bulgaria, established in 1941. This organization was the Bulgarian equivalent of the German HJ and was popular during King Boris III's rule when the Royal Kingdom of Bulgaria was Nazi Germany pro orientated. Since the mid 30's Bulgaria was much involved on Germany's side. Thus, when in 1941 the Germans needed the Bulgarian land to launch an attack in the Balkans, Kingdom Bulgaria officially joined the Dreimacht Pakt, signed it and became an official ally to Germany, Italy and Japan.
