The present CD offers an excellent opportunity for a close look at the best Bulgarian samples of folk and jazz fusion. Theodosii Spassov's talent is incredible and inspiring, his music transcends the limitations of human understanding. His musical improvisations are innovative, the sound is penetrating and extraordinary.
The arrangements are well-conceived: brass, string orchestra, jazz quartet, duet, kaval and percussions follow one another naturally and immediately, the leading part invariably indebted to the kaval. As it is well known, the kaval is a favorite Bulgarian folk instrument of soft and tender sound.
Theodosii demonstrates his superb professionalism both in the precision of intonation and the broad tonal range as well as in his striking virtuoso technique. Inspired by his knowledge of both folk and jazz, Theodosii Spassov continues to probe the overwhelming field of creation, finding a novel freedom and space in the familiar and the usual. The title is also indicative of how the common can be presented in a different and poetic way that challenges the world of ordinary things.
