Pancho VLADIGEROV, a pianist, composer and pedagogue, is one of the most outstanding personalities in the history of Bulgarian musical culture. The CD is dedicated to the centennial of his birth and includes a selection of his most highly praised works. All of them are performed by the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Vladigerov, the composer's son and one of the greatest promoters of his vast creative output. The release also features performances of pianist Svetla Slavcheva, holder of a number of home and international awards and violoncellist Prof. Ventseslav Nikolov, a performer of a varied repertoire and over 200 studio recordings in Bulgarian and abroad. Vladigerov's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3 is a work from the Golden Collection of Bulgarian musical art together with the VARDAR Bulgarian Rhapsody. All of the compositions included in the CD are brilliant opuses by Vladigerov which demonstrate the vitality of his style, his mastery and invention, and his fine sense of orchestral timbres and colours.
