Traditional FOLK RHYTHMS from Bulgaria
Style: Folk music
Company: Balkanton
ADD 060089
This CD contains folk music and songs from Strandzha, North-Western Bulgaria, Mid-Western Bulgaria and Thrace. There you can found both the slow melodies and the wild rhythms of the folk dance. The main reason for the irresistible attractiveness of the Bulgarian folk music seems to be the originality of its rhythmical richness and meter. One of the unique feature of the traditional Bulgarian folk song is the asymmetric measures. This peculiarity has drawn the attention not only of Bulgarian but also of foreign folk-music researchers, and the world famous composer and scholar Bela Bartok has called them " Bulgarian rhythms".
