The bagpipe has been known way back in the remote past, enlisting in the musical convention of a great many peoples in Asia, Africa and Europe. Mentioned in the Bible, the bagpipe has also been an integral part of the Bulgarian nation's musical customs from time immemorial. Having deeply penetrated in the Bulgarian lifestyle, the bagpipe is in the focus of all folk festivities and a series of rites.
