Very Rare Bulgarian Royal Officer Guard Visor Cap « Bulgarian Militaria « Helmets, Caps, Gas masks « Home
The model of the visor cap we offer you can be dated to the period prior to WWI. This is evident from the illustration provided of Bulgarian uniforms from 1922. Nevertheless, the visor cap was made and used prior to WWII.
Initially, the red cap was part of the red parade guard uniform. In the 1930s the cap started to be worn with the blue-colored daily guard uniform. The parade uniform was to be worn with a cap only.
We suppose the cap can be dated to the pre WW2, but most probably has been used during the war.
The visor cap you see is a summer model, made of soft cotton material and has white edging. At the front can be noticed an enameled royal cockade, with white porcelain base. The cap is of 57-58, US 7 1/8-7 1/4 size. On the little buttons sideward that are intended to attach the leather chinstrap can be noticed the crowned lion - Bulgarian royal army symbol. They characterized by edge ornaments, typical for pre - 1936 model. On the cap inside is placed a stripe with the Bulgarian national colors
The cap is in used condition, visible from the pictures provided. There are a few small mote - eaten holes on the back.
Very nice authentic condition, despite the passed years and remarkable events. Still, the cap makes a very rare find and will please every collector of Royal Bulgarian items.
