XR! WWII Bulgarian army cap Otechestven front / Fatherland Front

We offer original cap of OF organization. The Fatherland Front OF pronounced [offe] ) is a Bulgarian political coalition , created during World War II - in 1942 on the initiative of the left anti-fascist parties and the political circle "Zveno" , dominated by theBulgarian Workers' Party. The FF leads the partisan movement resistance. On Sept. 5^th USSR declared war of Bulgaria which mobilized the FF and on Sept. 9^th the left parties organized the Coup of Ninth September. The government headed by Kimon Georgiev, immediately signed a truce with Soviet Union and standed against the Third Reich. This is the beginning of the 45 years communist regime in Bulgaria. (

All leading positions in the country were taken by the communists; only officers of left political convictions headed Bulgarian army. The royal symbols on the army uniforms, bearing the crowned lion have been removed and destroyed. The lion was replaced by embroidered initials “OF”.

At that time, supporting the Red army, Bulgaria started an offensive raid against Germany and gets the Hungarian lands.

This officer cap most probably went through all these dramatic moments of Bulgarian history.

The model of the cap is the same used by the royal army in ‘30s, intended for combat summer uniform. The strap on top of the cap is meant for a high rank officer. Aside is visible textile patch with the national colors. At front are seen the OF letters in red color.

Inside cap is stamped with producer mark: “Petar Hrugoev, voenen shapkar, Plovdiv" – Petar Hrugoev, military camp maker, town of Plovdiv.

There are metal claps buttons, with inscription "Made in Czechoslovakia". Size : S.
