Bulgarian Order Red Flag « Communist Period (1948 - 1989) « Bulgarian Orders, Medals & Badges « Orders « Home
This is the second emission of the order that has no number on reverse. Comes without a case.
Instituted: On 13th December 1950; this is the first Bulgarian order founded after 9th of September 1944.
Awarded to: Military servicemen and citizens for bravery and heroism in wartime. In peace time the order is given for achievements in guarding Peoples Republic of Bulgaria.
Form: Oval shape: 43 x 34 mm in size. At the left and right side of the order can be noticed laurel twigs. In the center is placed a soldier; there can be also noticed a blue-enamel field with a red flag. Above the soldier reads: "For Socialist Motherland". The ribbon of the order is dark-red with lines in white, green and red + a white line in the middle.
