A Badge for Excellence in the Wood and Construction Industry given to the people working for KOMI, SSSR
This is an interesting badge, embossed, two-sided with a non standard suspension bar symbolizing the SSSR and the Bulgarian flags. During the 1970s, as a part of the international mutual aid agreement a lot of Bulgarians were sent to work in Komi SSSR as wood cutters and construction workers. The Bulgarian Communist party issues this badge in order to stimulate them and to arouse their enthusiasm in the harsh working conditions of the Russian taiga.
General information:By awarding “Otlichnik” badges, given for excellent work in a certain field, the Bulgarian Communist party aimed at stimulating the people working in the different sectors of the Bulgarian planned economy.
For about 40 years there were issued and awarded more than 100 different types of badges for Excellence, a fact that makes this theme worth considering by every collector of Bulgarian badges.
These badges are also a survey of the changes concerning the technology of badge production: from their initial production by the State Industrial Company (D.I.P) and First Jewellery factory and later on by the Bulgarian Mint.
