In 1961 Vladimir Visotski wrote his first song "Tattoo" which laid the foundations of his later cycle of songs thematically connected with the outcasts' lifestyle, and stylistically with the poetics of the town romance and of the so-called "bog folklore" (áëàòíûé ôîëüêëîð). The "bog" songs are highly ironic and, as one can guess, at the beginning they did not gain much popularity with the general public. The personages described in them are realistic, although at times seemingly exaggerated; they are stuck in their swamp-like lives, surrounded by vicious circles and absurdities...
These songs are the best choice for a merry company, sipping vodka, nibbling at pickled cucumbers, remembering past times and funny stories...Cheers...
