?riginal Austrian bayonet Steyr Manlicher, model 1895, with rare markings and frog. The bayonet is interesting mostly because of its markings that speak of the bayonet’s military life. The Manlicher bayonet you see was made in Austria and enlisted to the Czech army’s unit. Most probably during the Czech occupation a number of bayonets are supplied to Bulgarian army and used here during WWII .
Bayonet only is 36,1 cm/14,2 inches long; with scabbard : 37,5 cm / 14,8 inches.
Marked on the blade ricasso OEWG (Osterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft - Austian State Weapons Manufacturing Company). On the other side is Austrian coat of arms (doublehead eagle).
On the cross guard is seen the number enlisted to Bulgarian royal army inventory : 9590 .
Next to the OEWG there is another, Czech army acceptance mark "S lion 1" .
Perfect blade, length 24,8 cm/9,8 inches.
The handle is of well preserved original wood plates.
The scabbard is also of great condition, beside a small curve which is difficult to seen. The hook is also stamped with Austrian marks - Austrian eagle and OEWG.
The dagger completes of perfect leather frog made before WWII.
The bayonet is in its original, perfect condition. Blade was covered with conservating grease which preserved it for almost 60 years . We removed the grease just for taking photos on.
