The selection and modification of fairy tales could be done successfully only by a writer, who loves children, is well familiar with the folklore tradition, and most importantly, who can tell a story in a clear, full-of-melody-and-images language. The story should be told in a simple, colorful and open-hearted way.
This quote reveals the author of the book's attitude not only towards fairy tales, but also towards children and life as a whole.
