RARE Bulgarian WWII Pilot Lamb's Leather Suit with cap, goggles and gloves

In World War II, Bulgaria saw the alliance with fascist Germany as an opportunity to satisfy its territorial claims unsatisfied after the WWI.  As an ally of the Austrian Hungarian Empire and Germany, Bulgaria was supplied with all types of military equipment from these two countries. The equipment of the Bulgarian pilots was either German, or made in Bulgaria as the German model was followed.
During WWII Bulgaria supplied Germany with uniforms like the one below we are offering, so that the fighting Germans could survive during the severe conditions of the so called "Russian winter". The lamb's suits were mainly used by the pilots and rest of flying crew. However, they were also employed by tank men and motorists if necessary.
The fleece is used as natural lining inside of the suit and collar to provide protection of wind. It is made after the German model - Flieger-Schutzanzug fur Winter (Kombination), type KW 1/33.

What we offer is a WWII Bulgarian pilot set of the Royal Air forces and Motorcycling troops. The set comprises the following: suit, cap, pilot gloves and pilot goggles.
- The suit is made of sheep's fur, with the fleece part on the inside. The suit is characterized by 2 hand pockets and adjustment straps both on the sleeves and legs. The collar has Military royal store house's ink stamps on its back side. The buttons of the suit fabricated for the Bulgarian royal army are brown colored, made of bakelite. The suit is in perfect condition despite the years that have passed. It has been stored for several years. Later on, it became a part of a private collection. Still, the suit is good enough to wear.
The suit is of L size for a person who is approx. 172 cm tall, 144 cm/57 inches long as measured from the neck to the ankle. The sleeve is 65 cm/25,6 inches long, whereas the leg's length is 70 cm/27,5 inches.

- pilot cap of sheep's fur. The cap can be buttoned. The buttons are made of bakelite. The cap is of 57-58 / US 7 1/8 - 7 1/4 size. It is in very good condition just as the suit.

- fleece gloves, in unused condition. There is a cut on the pointing finger part of one of them so that pulling the trigger is easier.

- a pair of pilot goggles, WWII model. We guess they were fabricated somewhere about 1945. The base of the glasses is made of rubber, the glasses themselves are protruding. The pair is perfectly preserved.

The set is rare enough, in unusually well preserved condition that will appeal to every WWII collector!

Short History of Bulgarian Air Forces: For the very first time in the world military history the Bulgarian army used a plane as bomber. That happened on October 16th, 1912 when Bulgaria attacked the stronghold of Odrin during the Balkan war against Turkey. At that time Bulgaria had 23 air planes, Great Britain - 23 as well, Russia - 99, Germany - 46, Italy - 22, Japan - 10 and USA - 3. With its powerful Air forces the Bulgarian army got ahead of countries such as: USA, Japan and Italy, and competed with Great Britain.
In March 1941 Bulgaria took part in WWII as an ally to fascist Germany. During the war major towns in the country were bombarded by the British and US air forces. The Bulgarian Air forces used mainly German military equipment. At the beginning of 1943 the first sixteen airplanes Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-2 arrived in the country. Germany sent to Bulgaria 100 fighters Dewoitine De-520 from occupied France. These are the main air crafts to defend Bulgarian territory from the British-American attacks of the monstrous "flying fortresses" B17 and B24. The equipment of Bulgarian pilots was German or made in Bulgaria by German model.
