RARE!!! Turkish General Parade Belt EARLY 20th c.

We are really proud to present you a Turkish general parade belt with a buckle that can be dated to the beginning of last century, about 1900.
Before we give you the details of this military attribute, let us mention some interesting facts that are connected with the item and its arrival on Bulgarian soil.
As some of you know, Bulgaria’s history is closely related to the history of its neighbor, Turkey.
Actually, Bulgaria was dominated by the Ottomans for about 5 centuries.
Things changed much after Bulgaria announced its independence in 1908. Later, the Ottoman Empire was already totally losing power after Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro declared war on it. This is how the Balkan war started in 1912.
The Bulgarian Royal army won important battles on the Turkish front. The most important of them is the seizure of the Odrin fortress. As a result, there were captured a lot of Turkish generals and officers of high rank, who were sent to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The armament of these military people remained in the hands of the Bulgarian officers to serve as a reminder of the great victories.
A part of this Turkish armament is now able to reach the collectors.
This is a rare general belt worn on parade occasions. It must have belonged to a general of the Turkish army. The model seems to have appeared either in the very beginning of 20th c., or after the Young Turks’ Revolution of 1908.
The base of the belt is made of red silk with built in leather stripe. There is also used silver-like, embroidered tinsel. The belt can be regulated, too; its full length is 112 cm/44 inches; width: 5,2 cm/2 inches.
Obviously, the belt was made to the order of its owner. The buckle is solid, made of bronze, with the typical Ottoman symbols: a star and a half moon.

The belt is very well preserved despite the many years that have passed since it was made. There is one small unstitch place at the belt's edge, but by client's wish it can be easily restored.
