The sign we are offering was part of a WWII Bulgarian royal airplane. It is of massive bronze make. There are two screw – bolts intended for attaching to the airplane fuselage. The sign represents a propeller with wings and royal crown above, surrounded by laurel wreath.
Diameter of the sign:  10cm/4inches.

100% original authentic condition, covered with nice patina for its more then 70 years preservation. We have found a lot of royal air force items, but this is the first time we come across such kind of sign

Short historical Information about the Bulgarian Royal Air Forces
In 1906 for the first time in Bulgarian Royal army has been established an air forces detachment equipped with balloons. In 1912 were bought 5 aero planes, produced in France, Germany and Great Britain. Until the end of the Balkan war there were 23 airplanes Bulgarian air forces available. At that time Great Britain had also 23 airplanes under its command, Russia – 99, Germany – 46, Italy – 22, Japan – 10, USA – 3, which ranked Bulgarian air forces among the leading aviation countries
 The same year 1912 was significant and glorious not only for Bulgarian air forces but also for the world aviation as whole.
For the first time in history the plane was used by Bulgarian air forces for air reconnaissance and bombarding of Turkish positions.
In 1914 was established the first Bulgarian airplane military school. In 1914 there was the first time when Bulgarian airplane came in to a battle, when a single French Farman 40 entered Bulgarian aerospace with the intention to bomb the capital Sofia.
The Kingdom of Bulgaria entered World War I as an ally of the Central Powers on October 4, 1915. The Bulgarian nation of 5 million raised a 616,680-strong army. It was the only country (along with Italy to some extent) which had experience with military aviation, dating before the war - at a time when war strategists such as Marshal Foch of France found the airplane a machine completely useless for the military.
During the war Bulgaria had on its disposal 91 war – planes and realized 1272 combat flights.
After WWI in accordance with the treaty of  Neuilly-sur-Seine The Kingdom of Bulgaria was banned from operating military aircraft under any form for the next 20 years. For that reason all Bulgarian airplanes, balloons, aviation equipment, weaponry and ammunition were to be destroyed under Allied control.
Only in 1925 started a new phase of development for the civil and military aircraft that turned into its expanding and modernizing during the 1930’s.
The first combat aircraft entered service in the reestablished air force in 1937. 

At the beginning of World War II the air craft forces was absolutely independent army detachment, the combat air fleet comprised 374 machines in various roles. In addition orders were placed for 10 Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 fighters, 11 Dornier Do 17M/P bombers, 6 Messerschmitt Bf 108 light liaison and utility aircraft, 24 Arado Ar 96B-2 and 14 Bücker-Bestmann Bü 131 trainers. The military staff comprised 4240 military men - 342 officers, and during the war as a German ally The Bulgarian Kingdom had at its disposal 595 airplanes with 10287 military staff
In 1943 Bulgaria was attacked by American and English bombardiers. In several battles all Bulgarian officers managed to show a high professionalism and exceptional heroism with their air fighters Me-109G-2/4 and Devoitine D-520.
