Christian orthodox icon St. George / Sveti Georgi , silver plated

This beautiful icon - plastic was issued by Bulgarian Mint. It was designed after the classical orthodox icon painting canons and reproduces one of the most precious Bulgarian or Russian icons.

The plastic is made of massive silver plated brass, with oxidization ( overlay the silver surface). It is mounted on frame with size 9 x 13 cms, with black textile basis. Nice certificate-booklet (in Bulgarian ) joins the icon.

St. George is respected as patron of warriors. The Orthodox church commemorates him on 6th may, when is the officil holiday of Bulgarian army. He is symbol of courage, will and valor.

George comes from Greek "georgos" and means "farmer". St. george is patron of farmers, too.
