A successful pianist, possessing a brilliant technique enabling him to interpret freely music varied in style and expressiveness from pre-classical to modern times, in this CD Tomislav Baynov offers some of the gems of world piano music. His performance features remarkable delicacy and crystal-clear sound in the four sonatas by Scarlatti, the Father of piano music, brilliance and vitality in Mendelssohn's Rondo capriccioso, as well as in the superb Liszt's paraphrase on a theme from Verdi's Rigoletto. There are tenderness and logic in the construction of Chopin's Scherzo in B flat minor, virtuosity and emotional power in Rachmaninov's Etudes. Added to these are three works by the great French composers Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen.
Tomislav Baynov is holder of many Bulgarian and international awards, professor in piano and a concertizing pianist, trained in Germany. He has spent almost two decades in this country where he is also famous as a chamber-music performer who has appeared with many singers and instrumentalists, founder of the Baynov Piano Ensemble to which many compositions have been dedicated.
