Very Rare Bulgarian Royal Infantry Officer Parade Tunic, old model 1906 « Bulgarian Militaria « Uniforms « Home
We are offering this very rare parade tunic of an Infantry high officer from the beginning of 20th c.
The cut is very similar to the old Russian uniforms, accepted in 1879.
The uniform model can be dated to 1906 but it was used also in Balkan war 1912 - 1913.
After the liberation from ottoman rule all Bulgarian uniforms resemble the Russian royal uniforms from 1879, exactly as the model we are offering.
Initially the uniform was in dark green color, in 1899 the color was changed to black and 1906 the uniform became its final appearance in dark blue. The uniform we are offering was worn by a high ranking officer of the Bulgarian royal army. This is visible from the tinsel signs on the coat and the sleeves
There are 12 golden - like buttons arranged in two rows, bearing the royal symbols – a standing lion with crown. On the back they are stamped with the Austrian producer’s mark "Bruder Schneider Wien"
It is of dark blue color, made of soft, woolen material, specifically used for the make of officer's garments and red edging typical of the Infantry. On the shoulders can be seen the original thin stripes for attaching the officer’s epaulets, that were obligatory part of the royal parade uniform in the beginning of 20th century. In this case they are missing but you can replace them with shoulder straps from the period of Ferdinand’s reign, that we are also offering.
There is cotton lining on the inside of the tunic.
Size: M; Sleeve's length 66cm/26 inches.
Perfect condition despite the years that have been passed, except for a few hardly visiblel holes.
Very rare collector’s item outlasted two world wars, 45 years communism, when all royal items and symbols were banned and destroyed.
